HJC CL-SP Review

HJCCLSPCNDYRD-2.jpg

The HJC CL-SP has received many good reviews from those I’ve spoke with. The fact that the helmet is both Snell and DOT approved makes for a good selling point, in addition to some fantastic features the helmet offers.

As with many of the other HJC helmets, the CL-SP boasts the quality and craftsmanship we’ve come to expect. The air vents in this helmet are simple, but let in a good amount of air flow. Seems the ‘keep it simple’ mentality worked for them in designing this helmet. Again, the face shield snaps into 4 positions and is pretty secure. There’s no need to worry that the shield will slam closed when riding at high speeds. HJC’s anti-fog visor seems to be one of the best on the market; it really does keep the visor clear.

The helmet is pretty lightweight and comfortable compared other helmets, though everyone will have their own opinion on that. This helmet seems shaped for more round heads, so those with oval heads may not feel that this is the most comfortable option for them.

Overall, another good helmet from HJC.

HJC FS-10 Review

HJCFS10ANTHRCT-2.jpg

While the HJC FS-10 is one of the most expensive HJC helmets, it offers riders some great features that other helmets don’t. Probably the most exciting feature of the FS-10 is the inner Sun Shield. This shield acts as built-in sunglasses for the helmet, removing the need for a tinted face shield. The Sun Shield is also easy to put up and down in the helmet, an advantage if going through shaded areas or tunnels.

Many owners of the FS-10 praise the visor removal system. It is one of the easiest and quickest systems on a helmet, making changing the visor very convenient. Another great feature on the FS-10 is the helmet liner. Called “Silver Cool” this liner is said to be moisture-wicking and antibacterial. Great for riding in heat.

One complaint is of the small vents, which don’t allow much air flow through the helmet. Here’s where the “Silver Cool” liner is a real advantage. Not too many complaints on noise. Seems to be about the same as most other helmets on the market. The lack of a Snell rating also discourages some from making the purchase, but the helmet is DOT approved.

Love this helmet. My is bright red. I do like the ability to lift up front shield in several different positions. I have both the clear and dark visors that easily are remove and re-attached.

I ordered a new HJC Symax from the Helmet Shop, service as in the past, was prompt. It took three days to get to my doorstep. I wanted to try one of the flipper helmets in lieu of the Arai Quantum/f that I have been wearing. I'll try to give the helmet a decent review and maybe that will help some of you folks that may be considering this brand/model. At times I'll compare it with my Quantum as I had always perceived the Arai?s to be the benchmark on fit/finish.

The helmet is attractive and within it?s price range is probably comparable aesthetically to other brands.

I bought an HJC Symax about a month ago and have ridden about 1800 miles
with it. In general, I like it. I cannot imagine going back to a
non-flip-up-front helmet. I haven't dropped my glasses off the tank bag
onto the pavement even once since buying the Symax.

I had a Shoei RF-800 and it was a good helmet. Except for the non-removable
lining and the extremely chip-prone gel-coat on the helmet exterior. My
black helmet looked like somebody had shot me with white paint out of a
spray gun. I've never had anything in fiberglass (or whatever it was made

HJC SYMAX, $240

I have been in the market for a new flip-up helmet for a long time. I was looking to replace my three year old Shoei Duotech as I usually replace my helmet every two seasons. However, I had waited because I couldn't find something I liked. The new Shoei Syncrotec did not come in XXL, as the largest size XL did not fit my Max Biaggi sized dome. I wanted to try on a BMW System 4, but would have to drive to Canada to get one, as they were not allowed to be shipped to the USA ( thank your local product liability lawyer for that).
